About The Role

FDM is a global technology consultancy that partners with leading organisations to deliver innovative IT solutions. We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our client within the financial services sector on a 12-month employment contract (with possible extension). In this role you will lead and support the analysis, investigation, and resolution of data‑related issues across applications and analytical solutions. The role combines hands‑on data work with strong coordination across technical teams, business stakeholders, and governance functions within the Manage Rule‑Based/AI Model‑Based TM Controls & Applications Team.

You will apply advanced analytics to diagnose data quality, modelling, and processing issues; drive data‑driven incident management; and ensure decisions are timely, evidence‑based, and aligned with regulatory and AI governance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and coordinate data‑related incidents, issues, and escalations.
  • Extract, prepare and analyse data to support root‑cause investigations and improvements.
  • Provide insights through visualisation, interpretation, and recommendations.
  • Assess and support ML model performance, stability, data quality and drift issues.
  • Validate and optimise data preparation and modelling for production deployment.
  • Design experiments, evaluate hypotheses, and communicate findings clearly.
  • Ensure adherence to data management principles and AI lifecycle governance.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and continually build domain expertise.

About You

  • Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • High ethical standards and willingness to challenge constructively.
  • Solid technical and business understanding, ideally in complex system landscapes.
  • Passion for technology and data-driven problem solving.
Competencies:
  • Strong analysis, technical expertise, and coordination abilities.
  • Effective communication, learning mindset, and customer focus.
  • Experience with financial crime applications (e.g. FACP) is desirable
  • Strong SQL and Python, as well as Mathematics and Statistics
  • Understanding of AML, Transaction Monitoring processes, and knowledge of FinCrime 
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Experience in an agile way of working and methods (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) is an advantage
