About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst who possesses logistics & supply chain experience as well as holds live SC security clearance, to work for our global systems integrator client across a number of different end client bids within the Defence sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a remote role. 

We are seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst to lead technical business analysis and requirements management across Defence bids, ensuring that complex Defence support, logistics, sourcing, and inventory processes are clearly understood and translated into robust, traceable IT requirements.

Responsibilities:

  •  Analyse end‑to‑end Defence supply‑chain processes (procurement, inventory, warehousing, logistics).
  •  Develop As‑Is and To‑Be process flows, operating models, and service mapping.
  • Evaluate user needs, operational constraints, security considerations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify risks, inefficiencies, and service‑improvement opportunities.
  • Define clear business, functional, non‑functional, and data/integration requirements.
  • Capture and manage requirements across ERP, logistics, inventory, analytics, and service platforms.
  • Maintain full requirements traceability through design, delivery, and testing.
  • Prioritise and control requirements in line with programme governance and Defence change processes.
  • Act as a key interface between internal teams, bid teams, IT delivery, and consortium partners.
  • Facilitate workshops, design sessions, and structured reviews to gather and validate requirements.
  • Constructively challenge assumptions, balancing operational needs with technical feasibility.
  • Support architects with solution design alignment, impact assessments, and trade‑off analysis.
  • Provide clarification during build, integration, deployment, and service transition phases.
  • Contribute to UAT planning, operational readiness, and acceptance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Defence security, governance, assurance, and change‑control standards.
 

About You

  • Advanced business analysis and requirements management capability
  •  Strong understanding of logistics, supply chain, or asset‑intensive service environments.
  •  Proven ability to translate complex operational needs into IT‑ready requirements.
  •  Experience working across multi‑supplier, multi‑system programmes.
  •  Excellent facilitation, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous, highly regulated environments.
  • Significant experience as a Senior Business Analyst on large‑scale or complex programmes.
  • Experience working with Defence, critical national infrastructure, or regulated service environments (desirable).
  • Experience supporting ERP, logistics, inventory, or enterprise digital platforms.
  • Experience managing requirements across discovery, delivery, and transition to service.

Qualifications (desirable)

  • Business Analysis certification (BCS, IIBA, or equivalent).
  •  Experience with Agile, hybrid, or structured delivery methodologies.
  •  Experience working on Defence, logistics, or major government programmes.
