About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Fixed Income Operations Risk Specialist  to work for our client within the Financial Services sector. This is initially a 6 to 12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid office role that will be based in Glasgow. 

Our client is seeking an experienced individual to join the 
Fixed Income Ops Risk Team who are responsible for setting, executing upon and enforcing the ops and broader firm's Risk management agenda. This is achieved through close partnership with product teams, senior stakeholders, subject matter experts, peer risk teams, and colleagues from across the broader organisation. The team is also engaged in proactive and preventative risk reduction initiatives, focused deep dives and proactively drive adherence to the firm-wide risk framework, policy, and standards. Key goals for team this year include a focus on actively learning and applying automation to propose solutions and leveraging GenAI tools to enhance risk identification and monitoring.
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Role requires regular interaction with risk managers in all departments, divisions, line managers and communication to various levels of management within Operations and other areas in the firm.
  • Support the annual Non Financial Risk (NFR) assessment across Fixed Income Ops.  Coordinate, produce and present risk-based information to our business and management stakeholders.  Looking to automate process.
  • Support the overall risk environment through upholding and developing the risk and control agenda and through the on-going development and evolution of key metrics
  • Support the delivery of a broad range of strategic projects as required (including NFRAC, and wider transformation agenda)

About You

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in risk‑related roles.
  • Strong risk management expertise.
  • Ability to set, execute, and enforce operational risk management practices.
  • Understanding of firm‑wide risk frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Experience supporting Non‑Financial Risk (NFR) assessments and risk/control evaluations.
  • Comfortable working closely with product teams, senior stakeholders, subject matter experts, peer risk teams, and operations/business managers.
  • Able to communicate risk insights clearly to various levels of management.
  • Capable of conducting deep‑dive reviews, thematic analysis, and proactive risk identification.
  • Ability to produce, interpret, and present risk‑based information and key metrics.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to challenge processes constructively.
  • Interest in automation, process optimisation, and using technology to reduce manual work.
  • Willingness to learn and apply GenAI tools to enhance risk monitoring and identification.
  • Ability to support automation of NFR processes and reporting.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and evolving risk and control metrics.
  • Ability to coordinate and produce risk reports for business and management stakeholders.
  • Ability to support and deliver strategic projects, including NFRAC and broader transformation initiatives.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to influence decision‑making by presenting clear, risk‑based recommendations.
  • Skilled at building strong relationships across departments to ensure consistent risk practices.
