About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an IT Technical Specialist (Infrastructure- End User Computing) to work within a large, complex enterprise technology environment. This is initially a 6‑month contract with strong prospects to extend and will be a hybrid role based in Cheshire.

This role sits within Infrastructure Services and will operate as a technical subject matter expert in End User Computing. You will provide technical leadership across the EUC estate, contribute to service improvements, and support both operational teams and project delivery. The role requires strong technical depth, ownership, and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
 
  • Act as a technical SME for End User Computing, ensuring system availability, stability, and compliance within agreed SLAs.
  • Provide advanced (3rd‑line) support, including out‑of‑hours support where required, and ensure full technical documentation is maintained.
  • Lead and contribute to the design and implementation of EUC solutions, standards, and service improvements.
  • Support project delivery by collaborating with Project Managers, contributing to solution design, and ensuring operational readiness.
  • Own patching, upgrades, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes, identifying and escalating risks as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Infrastructure System Administrators and wider support teams. 

About You

  • Strong experience administering Windows end‑user systems within large enterprise estates (1,000+ devices).
  • Hands‑on experience with SCCM for deployment and patch management.
  • Experience using Microsoft Intune for device management and compliance.
  • Experience supporting large‑scale VDI environments, ideally VMware Horizon.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory and enterprise back‑office systems.
  • Experience producing low‑level technical designs and supporting solution architecture.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery tools and disaster recovery procedures.
  • Experience with PowerShell or other scripting for automation (desirable).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and provide technical leadership.
  • Willingness to participate in out‑of‑hours and on‑call support rotas.
