About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Business Analyst to work on a large‑scale transformation programme within the financial services sector. This is initially a 9‑month contract with strong prospects for extension and will be a hybrid role based in Edinburgh or Cheshire.

This role acts as the specialist authority for business analysis quality across multiple squads and teams during the adoption of new ways of working. The primary focus is on reviewing, coaching, and improving business analysis outputs, rather than owning or delivering change directly.

The successful candidate will rapidly embed into established Ways of Working, ensuring analysis artefacts consistently reflect agile, BDD, and value‑driven principles and align to predefined standards, guides, and templates.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the specialist authority for business analysis quality across a large‑scale, multi‑squad delivery
  • Review business analysis artefacts (user stories, acceptance criteria, scenarios) to ensure they are outcome‑ and value‑focused and avoid solution‑, system‑, or process‑led language
  • Provide clear, constructive, and hands‑on coaching to Business Analysts to improve the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of analysis outputs
  • Champion agile, BDD, and value‑driven analysis practices in line with agreed Ways of Working
  • Drive consistency of analysis standards across squads, ensuring feedback is timely, actionable, and improves throughput
  • Support Business Analysts in shifting mindset from documenting solutions to describing user needs, behaviours, and business value
  • Challenge poor practice early and confidently, raising standards while maintaining trusted and collaborative working relationships

About You

  • Significant experience working as a senior or lead Business Analyst within agile delivery environments
  • Strong expertise in agile and BDD‑aligned analysis practices, including high‑quality user stories, acceptance criteria, and scenarios
  • Proven experience reviewing, coaching, and improving the work of other Business Analysts
  • Confident and credible communicator, able to provide clear, direct, and unambiguous feedback in a supportive coaching style
  • Able to build trusted relationships quickly with analysts and delivery team members
  • Comfortable challenging existing practices and raising standards without creating defensiveness
Explicitly not accountable for:

  • Owning delivery or managing end‑to‑end change
  • Product ownership or backlog priority decisions
  • Solution or technical architecture design
