About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking experienced Cost of Income Operations / Data & MI professionals to work for our client within the Banking sector. This is initially a 6‑month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.

Our client is seeking x2 VP‑level (5–10 years’ experience) and x2 AVP‑level resources to support a Markets Cost of Income Operations remediation programme. The programme sits within a specialist Accounts Payable / Cost of Income Operations function supporting the Markets trading business.

The engagement focuses on improving data quality, accounting granularity, management information and reporting, alongside stabilising and enhancing existing accrual and cost allocation processes.

Responsibilities: 
 
  • Document existing accrual and cost allocation methodologies across Markets Cost of Income activity.
  • Analyse data relating to current accrual and cost allocation methods, identifying opportunities for greater granularity, accuracy and data‑led accounting.
  • Contribute to, and where appropriate lead, the design, requirements gathering and implementation of enhanced Cost of Income management information and reporting, moving towards a standardised reporting format.
  • Support the establishment and ongoing enhancement of a single invoice inventory, including associated controls, governance and reporting.
  • Develop, maintain and improve operating procedures, controls and supporting documentation covering accruals, cost allocations and management reporting.
  • Undertake detailed data analysis to bring together invoice, cost and cost‑driver data to produce meaningful insights for business and operational stakeholders.
  • Support delivery of quick‑win improvements to stabilise current processes, followed by pilot initiatives across selected business areas.

About You

  • Strong background in data analysis within a financial services or banking environment.
  • Practical understanding of accounting principles, particularly accruals, allocations and invoice accounting.
  • Experience producing or enhancing management information (MI) and reporting, with an appreciation that MI quality reflects underlying data quality.
  • Analytical mindset with a focus on process documentation, improvement and re‑engineering.
  • Experience working in high‑volume, operationally complex environments.
  • Confident stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate clearly with business, finance and operations teams.
  • Experience identifying opportunities for process improvement or automation, supporting requirements gathering and implementation.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills, with the ability to hit the ground running.
Desirable:
  • Exposure to Cost of Income, contra‑revenue or Markets‑related fee models.
  • Experience working alongside offshore or outsourced teams.
