About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a UI Developer to work for our client within the Retail sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a remote role with occasional travel to our client's office in London (approximately once per month).

Our client is seeking an experienced UI Developer to work on on critical internal applications used by a large volume of staff. The role involves building a new application from scratch and modernising an existing React application by upgrading to Next.js to address security vulnerabilities. You will be joining a collaborative Scrum team and playing a key role in driving two high-priority projects forward.

Responsibilities
  • Build a new internal web application from scratch as part of a collaborative team effort
  • Modernise and upgrade an existing React application to Next.js to close out security vulnerabilities
  • Develop UI components using the FABLE component library, adhering to documentation and standards
  • Ensure correct data display from existing APIs and back-end systems
  • Write and maintain tests using Playwright
  • Participate in code reviews, providing detailed and constructive feedback
  • Implement mobile responsiveness and follow naming conventions and project structure guidelines

About You

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in front-end development
  • Strong proficiency in React
  • Demonstrable experience with Next.js - essential for this role
  • Experience with Playwright or similar testing frameworks
  • Knowledge of modern JavaScript/TypeScript and component-based architecture
  • Understanding of security testing approaches and vulnerability management
  • Experience integrating APIs and handling data display within UI applications
