About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to work for our client within the systems integration and consultancy space. The role will take ownership of a stalled copper replacement programme, re‑establishing control, stabilising delivery, and driving the project through to completion against the agreed scope. This is initially a three‑month contract with strong prospects to extend and will be a remote role.

This is a hands‑on recovery role, ideally suited to someone who has led similar network or infrastructure replacement programmes before. The remaining sites and lines represent the most complex elements of the rollout, requiring strong delivery discipline, stakeholder management, and problem‑solving capability.

You will act as the central point of accountability for the programme on behalf of the Systems Integrator, coordinating suppliers, internal technology teams, and end‑client stakeholders to ensure momentum is restored, risks are actively managed, and outcomes are clearly communicated.

Responsibilities:
  • Taking full ownership of a stalled copper replacement programme and bringing delivery back under control
  • Re‑baselining the project plan, scope, dependencies, and milestones to reflect the current state
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for all project stakeholders, including Systems Integrator teams, suppliers, and end‑client stakeholders
  • Leading delivery across multiple complex sites, ensuring technical and operational dependencies are managed
  • Identifying delivery risks, issues, and blockers and driving timely resolution
  • Managing third‑party suppliers and ensuring contractual deliverables are met
  • Providing clear, regular reporting on progress, risks, and forecasts to senior stakeholders
  • Ensuring project governance, documentation, and change control are applied consistently
  • Driving the programme through to successful completion of the agreed scope within the engagement term

About You

Must‑Have
  • 8+ years project management experience.
  • Proven experience delivering telecoms, network, or infrastructure replacement projects, including copper withdrawal or similar programmes
  • Demonstrated experience recovering or remediating stalled or at‑risk projects
  • Strong end‑to‑end IT project management capability, from planning through to delivery and closure
  • Experience managing complex sites, dependencies, and multiple stakeholders
  • Confident engagement with technical teams, Systems Integrators, suppliers, and senior business stakeholders
  • Strong organisational and delivery focus, with the ability to prioritise and drive momentum
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have
  • Experience working within a Systems Integrator or consultancy delivery model
  • Experience delivering large‑scale network transformation or connectivity programmes
  • Background in IT infrastructure, networks, or service delivery
  • Exposure to regulated or highly operational environments
  • Formal project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent)
