About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a UX Designer to work for our client within the higher education sector. This is initially a 3‑month fixed term contract, with a strong likelihood of extension. The role is hybrid, with 2 days onsite per week (Thursday and Friday) in London.

Our client is seeking a hands‑on UX Designer to work within product squads supporting pre‑enrolment student journeys. This role focuses on shaping the early stages of the student experience, from first engagement through to application and onboarding, designing intuitive and accessible journeys that support a diverse global student population.
 
Responsibilities
  • Design clear, end‑to‑end digital journeys across pre‑enrolment and onboarding.
  • Conduct user research to understand prospective student needs, motivations and challenges.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes and interface designs aligned to product goals.
  • Apply accessibility and inclusive design principles to all solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering and data teams to inform design decisions.
  • Contribute to and evolve the design system to maintain consistency and scale.
  • Support iterative delivery by using feedback and data to continuously improve experiences.

About You

  • Proven experience delivering user‑centred design within digital products or services.
  • Strong ability to design and optimise end‑to‑end user journeys to improve usability.
  • Experience conducting user research and translating insights into effective design solutions.
  • Confidence creating wireframes, prototypes and user flows to communicate and test ideas.
  • Strong collaboration skills, working closely with product, engineering and stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design best practices.
  • Familiarity with agile delivery and iterative ways of working.
