About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Project Manager – Fund Governance & Fund Simplification to work for our client within the financial services / life and pensions sector. This is initially a contract until the end of the year, with good prospects to extend into next year depending on funding. The role is a remote first but with the expectation to travel to either London, Telford or Edinburgh.

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support a programme of work focused on simplifying fund structures and delivering key fund governance, regulatory and customer-led initiatives. The role will involve leading one or more workstreams across fund set-up, governance, regulatory approval activity and customer-focused delivery.

The successful candidate will ideally have strong experience working with policyholder funds, customer-facing fund propositions and governance frameworks within a regulated life, pensions, asset management or investment environment. They will be responsible for driving delivery across complex stakeholder groups, ensuring clear governance, managing dependencies and supporting the successful implementation of new fund structures and operating models.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead project delivery across one or more fund simplification workstreams, ensuring clear plans, milestones, risks, dependencies and actions are actively managed.
  • Support regulatory approval activity relating to Standard Life Fund Managers becoming FCA-approved Alternative Investment Fund Managers, including coordinating responses to FCA questions and tracking submission-related actions.
  • Progress the Target Operating Model for SLFM, ensuring governance, reporting and operational requirements are defined, agreed and implemented.
  • Lead or support the set-up of new fund ranges for the Retirement Spending Initiative, helping to coordinate activity across fund design, governance, implementation and stakeholder approvals.
  • Support customer-focused initiatives, including customer governance, take-to-market activity and delivery of new multi-asset default funds.

About You

  • Strong Project Manager with experience delivering complex change within financial services, ideally within life, pensions, asset management or investment/fund environments.
  • Good understanding of policyholder funds, customer-based fund propositions and fund governance requirements.
  • Experience supporting fund set-up, fund changes, fund rationalisation, fund launches or new fund range implementation.
  • Comfortable working in a regulated environment, with exposure to FCA-facing activity, regulatory approvals, governance forums or compliance-led delivery.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate activity across fund managers, governance teams, customer teams, regulatory/compliance stakeholders and senior leadership.
  • Experience developing or implementing Target Operating Models, governance frameworks, reporting structures or operating procedures.
  • Strong planning, RAID management, dependency management, action tracking and senior stakeholder reporting capability.
  • Able to operate independently, bring structure to ambiguity and drive progress across multiple workstreams.
    Customer-focused mindset, with an understanding of customer outcomes, governance controls and take-to-market considerations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear project updates, governance materials and decision papers.
Minimum experience:
  • Minimum 5+ years’ project management experience within financial services or a regulated environment.
  • Prior experience in life, pensions, asset management, investment funds or policyholder fund governance would be highly desirable.
