About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Lead Data Architect to work for our client within the public sector sector. This is initially a 7 month contract with very good prospects to extend and will be a fully remote role that will be based in UK (home-based).

Our client is seeking a Lead Data Architect to provide technical leadership across data architecture, governance, and standards as part of a major digital transformation programme. You will play a critical role in shaping enterprise data architecture, defining best practice, and guiding teams to deliver scalable, high-quality data solutions that align with the organisation’s long-term strategy.
 
Responsibilities:
 
  •  Define and lead the evolution of enterprise data architecture, standards, and models aligned to organisational strategy
  • Provide technical leadership across data governance, data quality, and information management practices
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across business and digital teams to translate data requirements into scalable architecture solutions
  • Establish and maintain high-quality, standardised data assets ensuring consistency, accessibility, and long-term maintainability
  • Drive the adoption of data catalogue and metadata management tools such as Microsoft Purview across the organisation

About You

  • Extensive experience in data architecture, including enterprise data modelling and strategy development
  • Proven leadership experience guiding architecture decisions and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Strong experience with data governance frameworks and implementing standards in complex environments
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as Microsoft Purview (or similar) covering data catalogue, lineage, and metadata management
  • Strong knowledge of modern data platforms and architectures (e.g. Azure data services, data lakes, data warehousing)
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related disciplines
