About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Snowflake Tester / Data Platform Test Analyst to work for our client within the Insurance sector. This is initially a 12-month contract with strong potential for extension and will be a remote role working UK business hours.

Our client is looking for an experienced data testing professional to provide specialist testing capability across a large-scale data platform environment. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, product and business stakeholders to ensure data pipelines, transformations and reporting outputs meet business requirements and technical specifications. This opportunity would suit an individual with strong Snowflake expertise, advanced SQL skills and a proven background in data warehouse and cloud platform testing.

Responsibilities:

Analyse business requirements, technical designs, data mappings and acceptance criteria to develop comprehensive test coverage.
Design and execute functional, integration, end-to-end, regression and data quality testing for Snowflake-based solutions.
Develop and execute advanced SQL queries for data reconciliation, business rule validation and defect investigation.
Validate ETL/ELT processes, ingestion pipelines and orchestration workflows.
Test historical and incremental data processing, including Slowly Changing Dimension (SCD Type 2) scenarios.
Validate Snowflake tables, views, stored procedures, tasks and data processing logic.
Perform negative, boundary, duplicate, null and referential integrity testing.
Investigate defects and data discrepancies, providing detailed evidence to support resolution and retesting.
Maintain test artefacts, defects and traceability within Azure DevOps.
Support test automation initiatives and reusable data validation frameworks where appropriate.
Contribute to release readiness, environment progression and production validation activities.

About You

Strong hands-on experience testing Snowflake-based data platforms.
Advanced SQL skills with experience in source-to-target reconciliation, data validation and business rule testing.
Proven experience testing ETL/ELT pipelines and end-to-end data workflows.
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts, incremental loads and SCD Type 2 processing.
Experience working with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and cloud-based data platforms.
Ability to translate business and technical requirements into effective test scenarios and test cases.
Experience performing SIT, integration and regression testing.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
Experience using Azure DevOps for test management and defect tracking.

Desirable Skills:

Experience with automated data testing and regression frameworks.
Exposure to CI/CD quality assurance practices.
Experience testing cloud data migrations and large-scale data transformations.
Performance and volume testing experience within data warehouse environments.
Experience working within insurance, financial services or other regulated environments.
Understanding of data governance, security controls and operational resilience principles.
Experience validating downstream reporting solutions such as Power BI.
